Honda Unveils CB250SS Scrambler Concept and 2027 Rebel 500 E-Clutch

Honda CB250SS Scrambler Concept and 2027 CMX500 Rebel E-Clutch motorcycle unveiled with retro styling and modern technology

Honda has revealed two motorcycle updates for 2027: the retro-inspired CB250SS Scrambler Concept in China and an upgraded CMX500 Rebel featuring its E-Clutch technology. The announcements combine classic styling with new technology aimed at making everyday riding more convenient.

The CB250SS made its debut at the CIMA Motorcycle Trade Show in Chongqing, China. The concept features a red-and-white fuel tank, a distinctive LED headlight with a protective grille, a brown ribbed seat, gold-finished inverted front forks and chunky tyres. Its 17-inch alloy wheels and road-focused setup suggest that it is designed mainly for urban riding, with some capability on light gravel.

The motorcycle features a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, but Honda has not yet confirmed its full specifications, power output or production plans. Its potential launch timing and availability in international markets also remain unconfirmed.

The bigger production update is the 2027 Honda CMX500 Rebel, which gains Honda’s E-Clutch system in international markets. The technology automatically operates the clutch during starts, gear changes and stops, allowing riders to use the six-speed gearbox without operating the clutch lever. The conventional lever remains available for manual control.

The updated Rebel also receives a new 3.5-inch circular colour TFT display with Honda RoadSync connectivity and navigation support, along with revised handlebar switchgear. Its 471cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine continues to produce approximately 46 hp and 43.3 Nm of torque, while the seat height remains a low 690 mm.

With the CB250SS concept exploring retro scrambler styling and the Rebel 500 gaining improved rider convenience, Honda is continuing to combine traditional motorcycle design with modern technology. More details about the CB250SS are expected when Honda confirms its future plans for the concept.
